Truthful Improv (with Sehar Manji)

This workshop will focus on “being human” on stage. We’ll focus on emotionally-driven scenes, relationship dynamics, using our personal truths to inspire scenework, as well as hyper-listening and responding without dropping your “thing”.  (It is recommended that participants have previous improv experience)

Location: Arts Court, 2 Daly Ave (Courtroom, second floor)
Time: 3-5pm on Sunday, January 6

(And catch Sehar with her troupe “Colour Outside the Lines” at our comedy fundraiser “Ring in the New”, at Happy Goat (35 Laurel St) 8pm, Saturday, January 5!)

Born and raised in Nairobi, Sehar Manji is now a Montreal-based improviser, improv teacher, actor, writer, standup and sketch comedian. She performs regularly on stages around the city and has appeared in local festivals (MPROV, Montreal Sketchfest, Ladyfest, Fringe, OFF-JFL, POP Montreal) and has also performed in Toronto (The Big City Improv Festival and JFL42), New York (The Del Close Marathon) and was a part of the International Ensemble at the Vancouver International Improv Festival for the third year in a row, this Fall. Most recently, Sehar was selected as a participant of CBC’s Kim’s Convenience Emerging Writers’ Room and got the opportunity to work with showrunners, Ins Choi and Kevin White.
