We’re not going to lie — this was a heck of a busy month at the Embassy and we’re all looking forward to getting some much-needed R & R this summer.
What made it so busy? Festivals!
The Improv Embassy was one of 11 venues for the Ottawa Fringe Festival, the city’s largest theatre festival. The Embassy hosted three shows over June 8 to 18, including one we produced ourselves: The Fake News Show, pictured above, which sold out three times (!!!).
We also had a blast with the extremely nerdy Quest Friends Forever: A D&D Improv Show, which was a hit at Academic Hall, with many audience members coming back more than once since every show was different!
And finally, as if that’s not enough, the Embassy’s faculty and producers flew to New York City on June 23 to perform at the 19th annual Del Close Marathon, the largest improv festival in the world, produced by the Upright Citizens Brigade. We repped Ottawa hard!
Phew. Making stuff up is hard work!
But even though we’ll be settling back this Canada Day weekend, don’t worry — we’ve got some more exciting plans to announce soon! Stay tuned…
