You may have noticed, things are a bit different over here!
After years of dedicated leadership, the Improv Embassy founders Dani and Chris have decided to step away for family reasons and have moved back to Toronto.
Dani and Chris started the Improv Embassy because they had a vision of a place where people could come together to find their artistic voice, to create community, and to make great comedy. Together, they made that vision a reality and helped cultivate the Ottawa improv community, mentoring countless improvisers, bringing in regular jams, leading classes, organising workshops, producing many shows and successfully re-launching the Ottawa Improv Festival. While impressive, this list does not even begin to describe the impact that these two had in the community and for this we owe them an enormous debt of gratitude.
They leave behind a wonderful legacy in the Improv Embassy and in a community of improvisers eager to take up their mantle.
We wish to also thank the interim leadership team of Adriana Johnston, Joshua Mayo and Woody McCadden. They laid the groundwork for the Embassy’s reopening and will continue as faculty members with the Embassy.
Now, as the Improv Embassy moves forward, it will be jointly led by a committed board of directors and experienced faculty members. If you have any questions about the new structure of the Improv Embassy or want to get involved yourself, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
